Transcendentalist Poetry

Hey all,

I’ve been trying to remember the name of this poem that I used to like so much and I was wondering if you all can help.

It’s a poem of a well-known transcendentalist that talked about the meaning of life and whatnot. I know it’s vague, but I also remember the title being something-sis (for example, metamorpho-sis ).

The writer also traveled a lot with his father as a youth, if I remember correctly. Thanks for your help in advance.

“Thanatopsis” by William Cullen Bryant. It was my grandfather’s favorite poem, one he recited often by memory. Granddad had a 6th grade education and was born in the 1880s.

Oh, I liked Thanatopsis, if that is what you’re talking about :]

AH! Thank you soo much. And that’s pretty awesome. It’s definitely one of my favorites as well. ^__^

haha that was pretty sweet timing. I love transcendentalist poetry.
