Transcript vs. Class Rank vs. GPA vs. Courseload vs. SAT Analyzed

Hey CC!

After my CC experience, the general consensus is this:

There are other stuff on your application that can always help you.

Case Nr.1:
Marshall Mathers has a bad class rank, but good GPA.
adcom will understand: if you come from a very competitive, well-known private school. (ex. Exeter, Andover) I dont think they even do class rank but still

Case Nr.2:
Curtis Jackson has good SAT (2300+) but bad GPA, due to transcript.
adcom will understand: School has grade deflation. That’s when standardized tests can help Curtis.

Case Nr.3:
Andre Young has bad SAT (2200-2300) but good class rank, and good GPA. adcom will understand: Andre is not a good test taker.

Case Nr.4:
Jayceon Terrell Taylor has bad transcript, good rank. adcom will understand: school has grade deflation. This is the time when APs and IB scores can help Jayceon.

Case Nr.5:
Lady Gaga has good GPA, good transcript, good SAT(2350+), very strong courseload (12+APs.) adcom will understand: Gaga is a good student, in every aspect.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

But my conclusion is this:
If you are applying, take pride in yourself.
And remember that applying to colleges, especially Ivies, is a crapshoot.
Please bear in mind: you are all truly amazing and wonderful people :)

:)
happy May 11th
Best of Luck to all of You!
LBJ

ps wish me luck too, lol :)

Disagree. Adcom will think he’s an (intelligent) slacker.

Good rank and good courseload back it up. sorry I forgot to add that.

Case Nr.2:
Curtis Jackson has good SAT (2300+) but bad GPA, due to transcript.
adcom will understand: School has grade deflation. That’s when standardized tests can help Curtis.

Lirazel has good SAT (2360) but bad GPA (3.7 unweighted), due to transcript.
Adcoms DID understand: Lirazel’s school is a science magnet, with grade deflation in the sciences. Lirazel pushed herself to take hard science courses, but often got Bs and B+s. Lirazel would have been getting As in her humanities courses even on a strict C-center bell curve. Lirazel also took 2 AP exams she hadn’t taken classes (micro- and macroeconomics) in for kicks junior year, on top of 4 AP classes and three honors. Lirazel got a 5 and a 4, proving that she was not a slacker. That’s when standardized tests helped Lirazel. Lirazel was admitted to Harvard. Hooray!

I think Case 3 is a little trickier than that. They might assume you are a grade grubber who works way too much just to get good grades.

How can you POSSIBLY call an SAT between 2200 and 2300 bad? How incredibly rude and just plain wrong.

What is the point of this thread.

I think its a great score.
So many people in cc told me, however, taht it is bad.
Blame them.

^For internationals 2200-2300 is pretty bad, isn’t it?

No!!!
Please stop being sarcastic with me!!
I didnt want to get hated on cc for saying 2200 is a great score.
I believe that its amazzzing.

Dumb thread is dumb.

I do not understand why this thread is dumb…this thread is supposed to motivate all those who apply and make them feel better, since there is always an opportunity.

Rapper names? Fail.

Sorry,
make that:

 1. George McAdams
 2. Justine Comby
 3. Kenneth Stone
 4. Justus Boyles
 5. David Wright

Slackers do not deserve the title of “intelligent” in front of it.

^Agreed.
Beretta9mm

That whole thing about slacker is bull . Some people have a bad GPA because they moved around alot , had bad teachers or blossomed late. A nice SAT score is the perfect way to prove that you really do care but you just had bad luck at the beginning. Everyone deserves a chance.

@renicdemero!

glad you think that way.

The whole point of this thread is:
So that everyone who applies feels that they did great during high school, and can lead a wonderful life!

You are all amazing!

I totally second:

Everyone deserves a chance.

Thanks for your reply!

I can already imagine that you are a wonderful person :)

It’s possible to be an intelligent slacker. Christopher Michael Langan, to a certain extent. But he was abused as a child, so you can’t blame him whatsoever at all for being something of an *******.
