Transcripts for Applying to Schools

Hello! I am a current freshman in college and started about 2 weeks ago. However, I have only had one week of classes. After a long thought process and self-reflection, I have realized that I no longer want to go to school for science, but instead for art. I’m currently at a public university that doesn’t specialize in any art related subjects and would like to attend another university to get an art degree. I thought about finishing the semester here, but none of my credits would transfer since I’m only taking electives and my term bill is too high for me to just throw away the money. So I decided to leave school this week and start to apply to schools again this fall/winter. Here’s my question: Since I have only had a week of classes and only have one singular grade in one of those classes, will I still have to send my transcript over to the schools I’m applying to this fall? I know it may sound like a dumb question, but I just wasn’t sure if it would even be useful since I didn’t even stay long enough for there to be grades put in. Thanks!

OK OK very important question. Did you officially withdraw from the college that you are attending?

If you didn’t withdraw officially at the bursars office, housing office, Dean’s office, then you are still considered an enrolled student. You’ll get F’s in all of your classes because you didn’t officially withdraw. That will be on your transcript.

I think you may be considered a transferred student because you were enrolled in that school. You have to ask each university, where you’re applying, whether or not you need to send your record.

You cannot misrepresent yourself to the college or university where are you hoping to attend.

The penalties are severe if you aren’t upfront about your record. By that I mean that there is a clearing office that the universities use to see your academic history.

If you apply anywhere else, and you don’t mention that you already started at another college, the clearing office will verify your history and will reveal that history to any college or university where you apply.

It’s not an issue if you’re open and upfront about it. It’s an issue because when you sign a college application online, you’re telling them that you’ve provided the absolutely truthful history for yourself. If you’re not truthful, they will flag or “red tag” your application and any university or college will deny you admission because you lied on your application.

Before you decide to just leave, you should also see if you withdraw if you will still owe all of the money for fall tuition, housing and meal plan. If you will, then it may make sense to finish up the semester if you will have to pay for it anyways. I would suspect that alot of what you are taking are general ed classes that may meet some of the general ed requirements at a different school.
