So, the last thing I have to give to my college that’s on the student checklist they gave me several months ago are my high school/GED transcripts. The only problem is, I’ve yet to receive them.
A little bit about my situation: I finished and passed my HiSet exam on June 2nd (its one of the 3 approved High School Equivalency tests offered by New Jersey), and after having passed it, I contacted the NJ Dept of Education and was told that I should be receiving my New Jersey State issued diploma as well as my transcripts in 4-6 weeks after the completion date. Yet, here I am on August 11th with having still not received anything from the state. Since week 6 after having completed the test, I’ve contacted the NJ Dept of Education both by phone and email once a week, but each time I was told that someone would give me a call back or that they have it in their system that I passed & completed the test, and that I should be receiving the diploma and transcripts in the mail within the week.
The only thing that I find weird about this situation is that my college has yet to request my transcripts. I’ve accepted my financial aid award, registered for classes, attended student orientation, completed placement testing, received my student ID, and the only thing I have left to do is send in those transcripts… which leads me to this question… could the school have contacted the state and pulled my transcripts which is why they still haven’t requested them from me? I’ve tried contacting the school about this weeks ago, but I’ve yet to receive a response.
The only possible thing I could think about what happened is that maybe the school did contact the state and pulled my transcripts, but I can’t go off that assumption since I have no idea. It just feels as though my hands are tied at this point in terms of what I could possibly do to get my transcripts, and school starts on September 1st. Any possible insight from anyone that has been or knows/knew someone in a similar situation would be much appreciated.
