Transfer advice for fall 2010

Hello, I have just been accepted to UMD as a transfer for fall 2010. I have a few questions.
How can a view my financial aid or know if I need to send anything in? I tried to view my fin aid status but the system would not let me in w/o a directory password which I tried to get but the system says my name wasent found.
Is is possible for transfers to get on campus housing or is it limited?
Is there alot of cime on campus?
Are there any vegetarian/vegan options on campus?
UVA vs. UMD???
Does anyone know about the hearing and speech sciences program?

THANKS :)

Hi there, I don’t mean to hijack this thread but I have a quick question. I also have applied as a transfer for Spring and I’m hoping I get accepted, what was your GPA and where did you transfer from?
Thanks so much in advance

PS. I can answer your question about crime as tons of my friends go to CP, crime is not awful on campus but it gets bad real fast if you leave campus. There are a fair amount of muggings late at night. Hope this helps.

I’m not entirely sure why it didn’t let you get a directory ID… you could try contacting OIT, the Office of Information Technology, at the student help desk: (301)405-1400. If you have specific questions about Financial Aid, you could try contacting the Office of the Bursar: (301)-405-9000.

I believe that transfers can’t get on-campus housing, but I’m not certain about that.

There isn’t really a lot of crime on campus. The main crime that does occur is theft, which is pretty easy to avoid if you keep an eye on your belongings, keep your car locked, etc.

At the North Campus Diner, there is a vegan place, “Sprouts”, which is generally pretty good, from my experience. The Food Co-op in the Student Union also has a lot of vegan and vegetarian options.

I’m going to say UMD over UVA, but I’m biased… since I go to UMD. It really depends on what you’re looking for, though.

hey gotsmartz, I will be transferring from Bowie State U, which is still apart of the University system of Maryland. I have a 3.8 and I’ll be a 3rd year hearing and speech science disorders major (speech therapy).

transfers CAN get on campus housing. my friend from penn state did this past semester. so don’t worry.
also, at south campus diner they have a salad place and those are soooo yummy. and sprouts is really good! maryland has good food, better than the schools of my friends that have visited.
UMD is a really good school. I mean, they’re both state schools so they’re gonna be similar. they’ve got a lot to offer in the way of school activites like clubs. i think UMD’s better cause 1. i go there and 2. it’s close to 2 big cities [baltimore and DC] so you won’t ever get bored and 3. we have a lottt of school spirit and sports games are so awesome.
