Just some questions. Generally, how many essays and recommendations must transfer applicants submit? I’m sure these questions have been discussed over and over again, so I hope someone who has gone through the process wouldn’t mind answering.

Some transfer apps are “just the facts, ma’am.” IE, click answers online to a number of factual questions, enter name, rank, serial number, SAT scores etc. No essays, no recs.

Some have an essay on why transfer/why to that school and another “personal statement” essay. Some have 5 or 6 essays. It is, in fact, all over the map.

As andale stated, it all depends on the school, but from what I’ve noticed, a lot of the top 15 privates and top 5 LAC’s ask for SAT/ACT, 2 subject tests, 2 recs, one “why transfer to x school” and “tell us about yourself” essays

It’s the school. Some will not require SAT scores after X number of semesters, some do. I’ve been told, however, they’ll look more heavily on your college experience.
