[transfer] Are there any public schools I can start attending ASAP?

Hello,

My situation is somewhat unique; I attended UCSB for 2 years (2012-2014), just took GE’s without a major until life happened and I decided to put education on hold.

Fast-forward to now, 3 years after I took a leave of absence, I’m thinking about going back to school.

Here is the problem: All UC’s and CSU’s are not accepting any applicants. I can’t afford to wait until Fall when they start accepting applications, in which case I’ll be starting school Fall 2018.

Are there any public schools (likely won’t be able to afford private schools) in California, preferably near LA, that I can get around this and start attending as soon as possible? What are my options if my goal is to obtain a degree as soon as I can without getting buried in debt?

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you only took GE’s with no specific major in mind, you would be missing major specific course requirements needed to transfer into a CSU or UC. Going to a community college to complete the major requirements for transfer would be your best option. You complete the requirements at the CC starting this summer and transfer Fall 2018. Some CSU’s do take Winter and Spring admits so you need to check CSU Mentor for which campuses will accept transfers.

If you took a formal leave of absence, UCSB might let you back in. Either way, that’s where i would start. Otherwise I agree - a CC is likely the only option
