I plan on transferring to either Virginia Tech or UVA to study in finance/mathematics. I’m currently at a VCCS community college. I believe that I have all the requirements for the GAA at VT but I’m missing the foreign language requirement for UVA. How bad does this hurt my chances? Also, my career goal is to become an Investment Banker. Which school (and major) would be best for this?
Have you met with the Transfer Advisor at your CC yet? If not, go do that. That person knows if students like you have been admitted to UVA, and should also have some notion of the majors they were admitted to.
As for career placement, it really, truly, is OK to communicate directly with the career centers at both of those universities and ask them.
Agree that the transfer advisor at your CC will be in the best position to help you. He/she should have a very good idea of the grades/classes needed to transfer to other colleges in the VA state system and if you should expand the list of schools you plan to apply to as a transfer student.
