Transfer Chances

Hi, I am currently a sophomore at Saint Peter’s College (a Jesuit school) in Jersey City, NJ. I am double majoring in History and Political Science, with a minor in Classical Civilizations.

My current undergrad GPA, after 3 semesters, is a 3.984

Here are my HS stats (of what I remember). How important are these being that I have completed 3 semesters in college?
I finished number 10/230 in a catholic hs.
650V, 610M on the SAT
29 ACT
AP Scores: 5 US History, 5 World History, 5 Env. Science, 4 English Lit. (we were on blocked scheduling, the courses went a full year, and we could only take APs starting in Junior year)

I am on the Dean’s List at my college, in the honors program, and received the silver medal for having the second highest GPA after freshman year. I am received a Presidential Scholarship.

I am on the debate team, Vice-President of the Irish-American Club, a member of the History Club, a member of the Harvard Model UN team, and a president of a committee for the HS Model UN which we organize. I was also a freshman senator on the Student Senate last year, and served as Senate Whip. Last summer, I was an orientation leader.

I play the bagpipes, and I am a member of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association. I have marched in parades/competed across the East Coast. I have also marched in St. Patrick’s Day parades in Ireland. I have other family issues as well (if that matters).

I am not sure if I want to transfer, but I am interested in hearing feedback. Thanks!

University of Chicago (deferred and waitlisted out of HS, I pulled my app.)
Fordham (accepted out of hs)
Columbia
Georgetown
Boston College
U Penn

Any other schools that I should look at? Thanks again!

Your SATs, whilst perhaps subordinate to your GPA in rank of importance, send up an enormous red flag to schools and will hurt your chances. Your score is far below the median at virtually every school you mentioned. That said, apply anyway so long as you have solid essays and stellar recommendations.

SATs are used to measure how well you’ll do in college. college GPAs are used to measure how well youre doing in college. i think that if he has finished 3 semesters and pulled a 3.98 then SATs arent going to play as big a factor. also many schools dont pay much attention to the SATs after youve completed your freshman year. also his SAT isnt that much lower then the minimum half of the students who get accepted (for boston college that is). id say that you maybe have an average to slightly below average chance at most of the institutions mentioned. im mainly saying this because most of them have a very low acceptance rate and a large amount of applicants with ridiculously high credentials.
