I am currently a freshmen studying at the University of Oregon with an aim at going to medical school. I am debating whether to transfer to another school after I finish up my sophomore year. I’ve been looking into schools in California as well as schools in the Midwestern area where I could pursue a degree in the sciences. What are the pros and cons of this choice and what schools would be good choices?

Pros: A diverse enviornment
Possibly a better education

Cons: Transferring is tough
Cost

Good schools in midwest:
Purdue, Notre Dame, IU @ Bloomington

How many credits would I need to transfer and what would be the difficulties about it? By the end of my sophomore year, I would have around 90 quarter credits, which I believe is close to 64 semester credits. I was looking into Purdue and didn’t know when I should start looking.

UMich is great in the sciences and, assuming you have above a 3.5, is very easy to transfer to.

Thanks for all the ideas and help so far. Who/what would I need to do to get all of my transfer stuff in order, like credits and whatnot? Would it help to change my major or could I just do that when I transfer?
