Hello all. I am a current freshmen at a small liberal arts college in Ohio. I just started this past August. A set of personal circumstances have emerged and I am looking to transfer to be closer to home for January. BU says I need to have completed 12 credits for transfer eligibility in January. I will have completed 18 credits by the time of enrollment in January. I know this comes down to wiggle room around the language. I can call on Tuesday (today is labor day) but I was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience after a similar situation. I can finish out the semester at my current college- but I want to be closer to home for the winter for an emergent situation. Thanks!
I don’t know anything about transferring so soon, but if your priority is being close to Boston it seems to make more sense to try to transfer to an easier college to get into. How about UMass Boston? My understanding is that the UMass colleges are very transfer friendly to MA residents looking to move back home.
Talk to your current college about withdrawing- now- and seeing what kind of tuition refund you’d get.
Then apply as a freshman to BU with zero credits. If you have an emergency situation erupting, better to deal with it now then try to juggle your first semester going back and forth, no?
Your upcoming call to BU admissions should answer all of your questions.
Admissions is marketing but thanks.
The admissions office at BU should be able to answer your questions way better than anyone here. And it has nothing to do with marketing.
And today is Tuesday so hopefully you got some answers.
