I am planning to apply to Stanford university for Fall 2013. Is there still any chance to apply? since I have been seeing some threads about 2016 Application and so forth. Does that mean that application for 2013 are already over? And what is the probability for a student to transfer from a community college to Stanford?
Thank you in advance

You would apply in spring of 2013. As to chances…students I personally know who went to community colleges who were accepted could have gotten into Stanford as freshman admits. They all have (had) amazing stories + talents. Just a 4.0 and a few college extracurriculars won’t cut it unless they show some sort of passion.

Think about it this way…do you think the things you do are unique/do you come from a unique background? If so, you have a shot at getting in. If not, probably not.

An example of a unique story…a guy went to Antarctica and built research centers/conducted research there in his late teens. He also traveled the world and learned a lot about different cultures/research being conducted there.

Another example…a guy is interested in math/science. He sets up his garage as a scientific lab and conducts his own independent research there. He ends up publishing a couple of significant papers (after talking to some professors) and ends up giving talks at colleges around the world.

However, these types of people are the only types of people I’VE seen get admitted to HYSM as transfer students. There may very well be some ‘ordinary’ people.
