Hey, I’m a sophmore in high school and am currently taking extra classes at the local Allegany College of Maryland campus in Bedford County, PA. I’m looking at University of Pittsburgh as an option after high school, especially Pitt’s Honors College, then hopfully to medical school. Will my credits from ACM transfer to Pitt? Could I complete my freshman year at ACM and graduate a year ahead at Pitt? Thanks for your time, hope to hear back soon.

It depends on the school/major and what you are transferring. You need to talk to Pitt, but there are certain requirements involved with transfer credit. The biggest rules are:

A- Pitt only accepts credit from certain universities for certain classes, and
B- You can only transfer up to a certain amount of credit to Pitt (I think 30 credits or something?)

You’d have to contact an advisor at Pitt (I’m guessing in A&S) and ask them about that. It’s possible that you could transfer a maximum number of credits and redeem AP scores in such a way that you “complete” a freshman year of work without starting at Pitt (aka Gen Eds like math, culture, language, etc.).

Alright, thanks for the info. Ill talk to someone at Pitt. General education was really all im going to take at ACM. Just trying to get ahead while im still in high school.
