I am going to be a freshman this fall at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts. My high school grades and SAT weren’t that great, but I guess I worked really hard on my portfolio to get in.
I am looking to transfer to Stanford, UC Berkeley or Harvard to be an English major. Does anybody know what my chances are?
I am also Asian American if that helps at all…

if you weren’t competitive for stanford or harvard as a freshman applicant, you will not be a competitive transfer applicant. berkeley, on the other hand, you may have a shot at. are you in-state? and what were your HS stats?

Unless you’re going to law school, English is one of those undergrad majors that would require a graduate degree in order for you to get a good job. My advice is to focus more on working hard at your current school and getting yourself into an excellent grad school instead of regretting your choice and trying to get out of it.

I have to be honest though when I say that I really don’t like NYU’s “campus”, so I can understand where you’re coming from. If you really insist on transferring, you’ll want to spend 2 years at NYU first with a 3.8-4.0 gpa in order to improve your chances of transferring to a better school for your junior year. You’ll have no chance of transferring as a freshman applicant.
