Transfer Housing, Non-School Specific Discussion

Hey guys, I see that at some schools (Columbia, Berkeley) they allow you to request an incoming transfer student as a roommate. Do you guys think this is a good idea?

The way I see it the advantage of having a transfer roommate is getting to live with someone who’s your own age (probably) and is going through the same “I’m new to this place but I’m not new to college” experience that you are.

Of course rooming with a non-transfer student has the advantage of being with someone who already knows the university climate and can provide advice. Unless he or she is a freshman. That would just suck.

What do you guys think?

well if you were around freshmen wouldn’t that be beneficial in that freshmen are more open to meeting people and forming friendships as they haven’t already divided into social groups yet?
