<p>I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so I apologize if it isn’t. I also apologize for how long this post is!</p>
<p>I currently go to the University of Maine (Orono) as a Computer Science/Economics double major, with Computer Science being my primary focus. I am in the Fall semester of my Sophomore year.</p>
<p>My problem is the quality of the Computer Science department here. There are few professors, that we then get almost every semester. This wouldn’t normally be a problem, except for the fact that almost all of them are pretty poor teachers. This is a unanimous opinion among students, and I have even heard professors from other departments comment on it. These problems result in incredibly difficult classes with little to no instruction.</p>
<p>Due to the low number of professors, they’re even beginning to screw up our scheduling. We have a sample curriculum to follow, but they aren’t even offering one of the classes next semester that they’d recommend I take.</p>
<p>All these problems with the department result in less and less students sticking with the program, which only compounds all the problems.</p>
<p>My question is this: should I transfer for my Junior year? Pretty much no matter where I transfer it is going to be more expensive. There is also the problem with a whole new school, state, and new people. Is it worth it, or should I just suck it up?</p>
