I asked an adjunct for a letter of rec for my transfer app. He asked about content in a general sense. What should I tell him I want for content?

This is for MIT fr admissions, but college LORs are similar:

<a href=“How to write good letters of recommendation | MIT Admissions”>http://mitadmissions.org/apply/prepare/writingrecs

In addition, college recs might cover things like career goals, NT routes to college, etc. if applicable.

Thanks, I have a second question to add to this. I need to get two letters of recommendation, and I don’t know any of my professors well. Being at a large state school, most of my classes are large, all 60+ students. Is it ok to ask a professor for a rec if they know my name but not much else? I have done ok in most of my classes, but its hard to get to know professors and some just know my name-to-face.

That may be all you can do.

Do you know any of your TAs well? If so, you’d need to first check the websites for the schools you’re applying to and be sure a TA is OK. If not, you could see if a TA could write the LOR and the prof sign off on it.
