Transfer List/Advice

Am I on track? What can I do to be prepared for these applications due in the winter (Feb/March/April)

I’m applying to:
U. Chicago, USC, Reed, Swarthmore, McGill, Barnard, possibly UC Berkeley if I can get accepted as a junior

Right now, I’m not looking to be chanced for these schools. I’m just looking for general advice on what I should be doing now to prepare for my applications? I know there was a thread about recommendation letters to professors. I will try to search for it later, but does anyone have any extra tips on getting good recs? I’ve been a few professors’ office hours. One problem is my school is so big. (Stony Brook - SUNY). I think that I’m as competitive as I can be for these schools, and my lowest grade right now is a 99 out of all my tests/quizzes. School here seems very easy, and I’m aiming for a 4.0 and think I will get at least very close. I’m re-taking the ACT this week because it was only a 30, and my SAT is a 2170 which I don’t think I’ll retake but it’s possible. When should I get started on these apps? Is there anything else I can do to prepare? Should I be applying to scholarships? How can I show my interest to these schools? I’ve already shown U. Chicago I’m interested by both e-mail and attending an info session. Any extra tips/advice, etc?
