Transfer Mistakes, Screw Ups and, Horror Stories

I’m new here and I’m aiming to hopefully be a successful transfer student for Fall 2012 (God Willing). This thread is for transfer students to vent their horror stories and screw ups during the transferring process or after the transferring process. (Transfers need attention too!) I’ll start by sharing my humiliating one (also posted in another thread, but I’ll copy and paste it - w/ edits)

My Story:
I didn’t encounter many mistakes as a senior but as a transfer it has been awful. It starts out like this. My roommate gave me one of those highly caffeinated shots one night because she saw me studying. The thing is, that was my first time taking caffeine not to mention I have a history of being easily susceptible to side effects when taking medicine. Soon enough, I was on the mother of all caffeine highs. So, what did I do on my caffeine drive? I apparently decided in was a good idea to email the transfer counselor from the university I really wanted to get into. But this wasn’t any email. I had written a long rambling email full of stupid questions (Ex: What’s the weather like was one of them…) with personal anecdotes before each question. When the counselor emailed me the next day, I just wanted to shoot myself. Not my proudest educational moment. On the bright side, it was just one email and luckily the counselor was leaving on a trip. But, since then I’ve been too afraid to contact the university anymore which sucks because they really like applicant interest. Don’t think I’m going to get into that university… Also, I’ve avoided caffeine like the plague. - This took place during my Fall 2011 semester. So yeah, not getting into that university for Fall 2012.

Sounds like something more than a shot…

wat

To UpState - Definitely wasn’t a shot, it can in a can - roommate called it a caffeine shot. It was one of those energy drinks that had a ridiculously high caffeine content. I drank two of those with no idea about what would happen. High stress and caffeine don’t go well together… :(

To HotDog - My parents were very strict. They didn’t want me taking caffeine because it was a “drug”. Ironically in my case, it sort of acted like one.

Do you think I should try contacting the university again? Any advice…?

What do you have to lose? Were you assigned that particular counselor? Maybe you could contact a different one. If you didn’t actually apply they may not have a file on you. I doubt they start a file on every person who emails them. I’d just email them as if you never did before. If they do remember you and hold it against you, then you’ve still lost nothing by trying. Right?
