Transfer online university while in SAP violation?

I am not sure where to post this question. I am attending an online university which has turned out to be a nightmare. I did have some issues of my own and was in SAP violation, but won an appeal, finished another semester and then won another appeal based on improvement … my grades were improving and GPA going up. So, by the end of this new semester I would have been well above the GPA requirements and back on track and no longer in SAP violation.

Unfortunately, I had some issues arise, and ended up behind in classes. One teacher would not accept any late work, period. Another teacher agreed to accept an assignment late, but she never reset the submission form so that I would be able to submit the work. Asked for it to be reset and she did not respond. Finally end of semester came and I requested a course extension ONLY so that I could submit my paper assignment - I only needed her to reset the form so I could upload and I stated that in the extension request. I figured if I put in the course extension it would grab someone’s attention, at least, and I could submit this paper - it was a huge part of my grade and without it i’d fail. Well, she denied the extension and I failed the course.

I have had so many issues with this school, and yes have had several personal situations arise recently as well, that have hindered my learning. It is impossible to obtain any sort of help or guidance at this school and I feel that I am in such a terrible position in regards to my academics. I feel like there is no way for me to come out of this and get back on track - especially at this school.

I am looking to transfer to another school, if possible and am wondering if it might be a possibility, at all? I feel like I can never get myself back on track here and be successful. I don’t know if it is possible to transfer while in SAP violation, if perhaps another school with work with that or not? I am looking for suggestions or possibilities … or anything really. Even just recommendations for decent affordable online schools, and then I could check with them on the policies with SAP etc. I am appreciative for any type of guidance.

Thanks

You need to talk to an actual human being - a Dean, a counselor, an administrator- at your current school. Do not rely on on online submission forms, emails, or advice on an anonymous message board. This is important and you need to pick up an actual telephone and talk to an actual person to get this cleared up.

They are of no help. They transfer you from dept to dept and they all give different answers to any question you ask, and then they apologize for the last person giving you false info. I just want out of this school. They have caused me too many issues and it is just more of a headache to deal with them. You have to call several times and send several emails and then wait for someone to call you back. Most of the time their phone system hangs up on you before you can even eave a voicemail or be transferred. I would love to work it out here, but unfortunately I do not think it is in my best interest to do so.

You can’t just wash the slate clean and pretend you are a new Freshman. Any degree granting program is going to want your transcripts from any previous degree granting program (taking a summer class in photography at your local community college while you were in HS doesn’t count).

Start with the Bursar (that’s the head of the department which sends bills, credits your account with payments and financial aid). If you owe this college money the debt will follow you for years. So start there- you need an account balance of zero before you can move on. If you can’t engage in a human conversation with the Bursar, call the head of Media Relations (should be a name on the website) and leave a voice mail that you are going to have an interview with a national newspaper about what a disgrace it is that their college takes tuition money and you can’t even get the Bursar on the phone or to answer an email to clear up a billing problem.

That will get you a phone call back.

On a parallel track, you need a discussion with the Dean of Students or the Chair of the department where the professor wouldn’t accept the paper. This is going to become a “your word against theirs” situation- but hoping you have time stamps on your paper, when you completed it, when you tried to submit it and were locked out, etc.

But get on the phone. You are not going to get a dime of additional aid or be able to transfer to a reputable degree program until you clear your status with this college.

Is this a for profit school? Are you all paid up or is there an unpaid balance?

Please share what school this is. Also what is your goal, are you going for a 4year degree? Major? One of the members here @mom2college kids started a thread on reputable public online colleges a lower cost. I don’t know how to link it with the device I am on.

Many online schools are virtually open enrollment and unselective, so it is possible you could transfer. Your credits would have to be evaluated.

I don’t know why @blossom is saying you are in arrears financially, is that the case? I do think you should follow up with the teacher and the dept about the promise to reset not happening. What did she say when you mentioned it?

I’m assuming arrears- otherwise since the student got the GPA back on track there would be nothing standing in the way of just transferring to another college. Student wouldn’t have posted here if it were just a matter of getting the transcript released by the registrar and sent somewhere else…

so I assumed. OP- forgive me if I’m mistaken. If the transcript is being blocked it’s generally because there’s an unpaid balance. Which needs to be dealt with.
