Transfer or Freshman...

I was done with high school early and sick of it… so I applied to the University of Houston Honors program during my junior year. I was accepted and I have been taking a full load of classes this year. I will have 63 hours when I transfer into GDUB. I applied to George Washington as a freshman because I thought it was easier for admittance and better for scholarships. It turned out it was… However… I have spent a full year in the dorms and in college life. So I was wondering if I should be considered a transfer student or a freshman student? I’m sure I could talk the administration into letting me be either…

Advantages for Transfer:
-students will be more mature, maybe a little over the whole drinking every night thing…
-i can register earlier
-better housing? is upperclassman housing a lot better?

Advantages for freshman:
-people haven’t formed their cliques yet and people will be more friendly…

what do you guys think??

hey,

that is funny that you did that because i did the exact same thing at my state school!

although i applied as a transfer student, i deliberately chose to live in a freshman dorm. I would highly recommend doing the same – my friend who came in as a transfer lived in a sophomore dorm; the she just didn’t get the same fun, open environment as i did in the freshmen dorms.

hey:) thanks…
i think i’ve decided to try and registar early (b/c that is always a good thing) while staying in a freshman dorm…

did you attend any of the transfer events? do you have any other advice for me? :)

yes, i was an officer in OTAT (one transfer at a time) for a while actually lol. I’ve made some great friends through it. we have a lot of fun – we go to target together to buy stuff (it’s cheap and convenient), we have dinner together, it’s great. however, living in a freshman dorm was the best way to meet people – you don’t meet a few people, you meet like EVERYONE  so, i would highly recommend that in addition to living in a freshman dorm.
