Transfer Possiblility

I became much more interested in engineering late in my senior year (February) despite always finding a liking for it. Unfortunately, I ended up applying to a lot of liberal arts schools that in hindsight, I just don’t want to go to anymore because I want to go into engineering and they don’t want what I have. It was a stupid mistake.

Anyways, is it possible for fall of my sophomore year to apply to Georgia Tech and still get in? My goal would be to take all of the required classes according to their online breakdown for civil engineering and hopefully get a 3.7-3.8 gpa. Of course I have no idea if this will workout but it’s my dream. So is it possible to get the 30 credit hours needed to apply during the fall of my freshman year then start at Georgia tech the fall of my sophomore year? I’d probably go to a school that has the classes available for me to take. I may end up at Penn State Main. If that happens, is it possible (likely) that someone from PSU could transfer to Georgia Tech

Yes its possible of course, the acceptance rate is around 40% so if you work hard in college, nail your essays you most definitely have a shot.

PSU has engineering, you know :stuck_out_tongue:

Can you get the required 30 credit hours in 1 year of study at college? Also, how does the applying during the fall, when you’ve only finished half of your required credits work?

Yes you can get 30 credits in a year. The minimum for a full time student is 12 credits a semester but most colleges suggest taking more to graduate on time. Colleges mostly cap students at taking 18-19 credits a semester so you can probably take 15 credits a semester and your 30 credits. And when you fill out applications you will be asked what classes you are taking second semester. You might also be asked for a midsemester report or professor evaluations to see how you are doing.

Thanks everyone!
