Transfer Problem

I was a good student in high school (4.0 GPA, top 10%, 1380 SAT). However, when I went to Widener University (smaller school in southeastern PA) I made a turn for the worst. I didn’t like school and didn’t go to class, and ended up with a 0.75 GPA, yes 0.75, first semester. I ended up pulling that up a little after the school miraculously let me back and ended up leaving with a 2.0 GPA.

I now go to Delaware County Community College but now that I live at home I’m actually going to class and am on my way to a 4.0 with Calc II, Macroeconomics, Intro to Management, and Italian.

Even with the horrible GPA from Widener, will my GPA from DCCC help get me accepted anywhere? I heard once you go to community college you can sort of “reset” your GPA from old schools, is this true at all? I just want to see if I have any sort of shot at a decent school. I could apply for sophomore or junior standing (after another semester at community) because some F’s I got give me a low credit count. Thanks!

Define decent. When applying to any competitive four-year university, you would be required to submit transcripts from ALL secondary schools and colleges attended, so nothing is ever reset or expunged. Hence, your chances at most private, competitive four-year universities are basically nil.
