Hi,
I am a student of 12th grade from India. please advise me:

My status:
- Indian.
- 12th science done in 2009.
- 70+ percentage (PCM)
- Want to pursue undergraduate + MBA from USA.
- Looking for some economically reasonable option.
- Learned about transfer program at community college.

Please advise me for making a sound decision regarding my aspiration.

Thnak you.

what school do you want to go to ultimately, or what state ? Any way you cut it, being an international student will cost a lot more than an in state student. Some states do not consider you for in state tuition unless you have a permanent residence here so even if you live here for 2 years and transfer you will probably pay out of state costs.

Now obviously, coastal regions and big cities will cost more - (ie. LA, New York).

thanx for the reply,

but still i might save some thing on tuition fee in comparison to 4 yr college.

Out of state tuition and fees at most community colleges are significantly lower than out of state tuition and fees at the public 4-year colleges and universities in the same state. You can search for affordable community colleges at [College MatchMaker - Type of School](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

Select Two-year and Public for Type of School to get a list of community colleges, then narrow your list by selecting factors that are important to you such as your major field, tuition range, etc. I found a list of 143 with out of state tuition less than USD 5000 that also have on-campus housing [College MatchMaker: Results](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

If you would like to finish your degree at a particular public university, you should look at that university’s website to find out which community colleges it has formal articulation or guaranteed transfer agreements with, and the major fields with those agreements. If you can start out at a feeder community college, then you should be able to end up at that university provided you complete those specific requirements.

Good luck!

thank you very much

For community college do i need to have SAT score as I am having a online high school diploma for america and is also thinking about AP exams.

Most community colleges do not require ACT or SAT scores for admission. However, if you have those test scores the CC might use them for placement into specific courses. If you don’t have ACT or SAT scores, you will probably be required to take placement examinations in Math and English. Most CCs use the ASSET exam series. You would take that exam at the CC before you register for classes.

You need to check out which AP exams (and which scores on those exams) that the CC that you are interested in will give you credit and/or advanced placement for. CCs also usually accept certain CLEP exams as well. The CLEP exams are shorter than the AP exams, and they can be taken at any time during the year. Most CCs offer these exams on campus. If they don’t, the counseling office can tell you where the closest center is.
