I am an economics and political science major, going into my 2nd semester of my 2nd year in college. I have a 3.691 GPA, the grade trend is 3.7 (Summer before freshman year), 3.812, 3.405, 3.892. I have been in the debate team since fall of freshman year and am now the President.

What are my chances of being accepted into the selected institutions? What can I do now to increase my chances? What type of institution would you recommend at this point? I am also considering the University of Chicago and the University of Notre Dame.

It’s not so much a matter of the actual number of applicants they accept as it is the general percentage. Cornell takes about 8% for the college you would be applying to (CAS). :/

why not g’town? you’re record would be good for g’town (maybe SAT V is a little low, but your overall score is good), and they’re transfer friendly, AND they have an excellent economics and PS major program (hello, they’re in DC)…

Thanks Brand. Do you think my college record fit into Cornell’s admissions criteria?

Thanks Shoebox. I will definitely check out Georgetown.

Are you at CUNY Baruch? I don’t really think a 3.691 is high enough, but it’s worth a try. You’ll really need to come through with how Cornell fits your interests and has opportunities that other schools don’t.

What dont you like about CUNY Baruch

Brand: What schools would you recommend? Would Georgetown still fit in? I am looking for target schools; ones that I think I have a decent chance of being admitted to.

Brand: I already submitted my application. I wrote essays which I feel are “perfect.” But thats just me.

Haha. Well, if you submit the apps, now you just sit back and wait. It was at least worth a shot. Good luck.
