I have been accepted as a transfer student for the Fall 2014 term from the Collin County Community College. As part of my 4.0 gpa and my school, I received half tuition. That still puts total costs when living at home at about $22,000. I am trying to search for any ways to bring the tuition costs down. Are TA positions available to undergraduate students, and would RA be an option as a transfer student. Also, has anyone received any addition merit scholarship from the department (PoliSci Major) as a transfer? I do not think I will get any need based, but I just love SMU so I want to find a way to make it work financially.

Yes, TA positions are available to undergraduates. I believe being an RA would also be an option for a transfer student; however, positions for the 2014-2015 academic year have already been filled. Student Senate also gives out scholarships to students- you apply mid semester and its a one-time award of $500-$3,000 or so. I don’t know the answer to your question about polisci department scholarships. Perhaps you could try emailing Annie Bures at abures@smu.edu she works with admissions representing Dedman College (where polisci is located). Hope that helps!
