I’m considering transferring to MIT for fall of next year, and I’m curious to know how much consideration summer jobs are given. I just got an exciting summer job in equity derivatives modelling with Scotia Capital (one of the three biggest banks in Canada, where I’m going to school) working almost exclusively with phds, and I’m trying to find any edge I may have in the extremely competitive transfer pool.

Transfer admissions are extremely competitive so you want to emphasize everything that you have. If your job means a lot to you, then definitely mention everything you want to mention about it.

I don’t know how “much” consideration they are given as there isn’t a breakdown of this information anywhere and sincerely, I don’t think a breakdown is used. The admission process is holistic meaning they take everything in consideration regarding the applicant’s own circumstances.
