My daughter is considering unenrolling before her second semester and missed the deadline to apply elsewhere for spring semester. Does anyone know if it would negatively affect her to attend a community college for the second semester before transferring again in the fall? She has 3 A’s and 1 B so it isn’t her grades. She is just really unhappy at the school she is at. Thanks!
In comparison to a semester off from formal learning, a semester at a community college may be regarded as the favorable alternative.
True, thanks!
I don’t see why it would affect her ? Best of luck
It might be worth it because some schools have minimum credit requirements in order to transfer. If she’s taken four or five courses her first semester she’ll be short if she’s applying to start Fall 2024.
Potential downsides: credits may not transfer to new school from CC. Also, some schools will still consider those with fewer than XX college credit hours as an incoming first year, not a transfer. Just make sure you understand each potential transfer school’s rules.
Thanks everyone! Much appreciated.
