Transfer Scholars Day at UCLA

Hi, received an evelope last Friday…just wondering if anyone had also received the same and if they will also be attending…

Also, been looking into University Apartments at UCLA. It seems like such a bargain compared to the Residential Plazas. Any thoughts?

Thanks…

Went on Friday, got a T-Shirt, lanyard, keychain, general catalog, penant, so I’m good to go…lol.

BruinMichelle I kind of wonder if I saw you there! I was down there on Friday to do a bit of UCLA shopping as well… I noticed a few other people down buying a bunch of UCLA stuff as well, and could tell that they had just been admitted.

I ended up getting 2 T-Shirts and a License Plate holder for my car. I’ll decide upon the thing on the 21st after I get the letter and see what it is.

look in the catalog under Academic Achievement Program and at the resources there…looks incredible, a Graduate Mentor program…a Transfer Summer program, specialized counseling, cultural events, to name a few.

That’s awesome…I also saw quite a few “newly admits”, or so it appeared to be. My gosh, I got lost again in Ackerman looking for a place to eat. Got lost last year with my mom at the Book Festival…oh well, I’m new, so sue me. ;-)

Also, just found out that the majority of classes will be starting at either 12pm, 1pm or 2pm, which makes no sense for me to live down there. I am definitely commuting and staying in the library late.

I went to the STOMP conference on Friday…I don’t know if it’s the same thing as what you guys went to…
It was interesting.

actually…no, this is an invitation only event offered by the Academic Advancement Program that will be held on May 21st. It’s all day thing with breakfast and lunch with the Chancellor…

It’s a small affair actually, small is relative I know, but I assume around 400 or so? Maybe less…

BruinMichelle, I wouldn’t waste your time at the AAP meeting. I went last year and it was mostly boring. But if you are really intrested it wouldn’t hurt.

I feel bad about the STOMP conference… I was at UCLA for a good part of the day on Friday, and yet I decided against going to the conference. As far as I know though, at the STOMP thing they mostly focus on telling people how to get into the school… Considering I sent my SIR in the day before the conference, I don’t think I really need the counsling. :)

Whatsbruin…thank you, but no thanks. You need to learn to speak when your spoken to. That’s the trouble with kids these days…lol.

You said it was “mostly boring”, yet you didn’t substantiate why? Thats’ not really a strong argument, not one that I would take seriiously. anyway…I find it funny when people think things are boring, yet consider themselves a student…meaning, who cares if it’s boring? I frankly have nothing to do most days…and that’s boring. Learning about UCLA, being on the campus to me is not boring.

Allena, exactly…I took a tour and at the end she discussed admission at the very end in a 20-minute session…at that point she said that “admits” could go if they wanted and so I took that opportunity to go to the store…lol.

Easy there BruinMichelle, I was not trying to start any conflict. I was just telling the truth. I think just about everyone gets invited to these meetings. It could be beneficial to some. I think at the orientation people that did not go to the meeting will have a chance to make an appointment.

Listen…this whole site makes a person on edge. Ever heard of being facetious? Goodness, you come onto my thread and “give me the business?” I did not ask you what your opinion of it was, just if those “new admits” were going. My point exactly though, you still haven’t substantiated your unsolicited opinion.

I mean no offense, I’m not sure where you got that from. But it’s like how ****ed people were when admits went into a “reject” thread. It’s just unnecessary. lol Let’s all lighten up a bit, it’s just a school, a great school, but still…

Futhermore…I have not found anyone else who has been invited, so dispel that notion that everyone gets invited…

I did not enter a reject forum. You should take it easy and chill. At least step foot in a class room before you start mouthing off and acting like you know it all.

i got one of those invitations…and a phone call…and a card in the mail!!!

Very neat…you’re only the second person to have said that actually…I would have thought there’d be more. Oh well, more muffins for me…
