Essays/LORs/Other
I think all 4 of my essays are pretty strong, balaced between cockiness and humility. They each help paint a picture of who I am, in and out of my academic life.

Schools (My estimates may be far off, so insight would be greatly appreciated)

  • Likely: UCSD, UCSB
  • Toss-up: UCI
  • Low Probability: UCLA

Why do you want to transfer?

As a Junior level transfer for these UC’s, your HS record will not be considered other than your AP classes.

Are you familiar with this link although this data is specific for Community college transfers? Transfers by major | University of California

Will you have your GE reciprocity letter for Transfer?

Since UC to UC transfers have lower priority and you cannot TAG to UCI or UCSB, I would put UCI, UCSB and UCSD into the Toss up category.

Best of luck.

Im just not enjoying my time at UC Riverside what so ever.

Can you say more about why you are not enjoying your time at UC Riverside? Do you want to be in different setting? Do you miss home? Have you joined clubs or undertaken other activities outside of classes?

You university GPA suggests that the classes are approximately an appropriate level of rigor.

UCLA looks like a high reach to me, but @Gumbymom would know better than I would.

What do you think that you will like better at UCSD, UCSB, or UCI?

UC Riverside doesnt have much of a social life, so its much harder to make freinds on campus. Also, being from the san diego area, it would just be nicer to be at a school in a similar terrain to that of my hometown. UCSD, UCI, and UCSB also have better reputations than UCR. Those are just a few reasons. Im hoping to get into at least one of them.

Friend’s daughter transferred from UCR and just started at UCLA. Also got into USC, UCSD, and I believe UCSB. She did not get into Cal. She is a sociology major, but interested in accounting. Her grades at UCR was very high. I believe around 3.9. It can happen, but grades do need to be pretty high to give you a chance. Maybe consider Davis or Santa Cruz? UCSD, UCI, and UCSB are all very difficult schools to get into and I would say are toss ups or possibly reaches since it appears the UCs tend to favor CC student transfers rather than fellow UC transfers.
