<p>Ok I am applying to a few top 10-20 schools and I’m wondering if my essay topic is kind of too ehhh? </p>

<p>So I grew up in a religiously conservative catholic household and came out to my parents during spring of senior year in hs. They kicked me out because I was already 18 and so I was couch surfing for almost 3 months before I found a stable home and then eventually moved on campus. </p>

<p>The prompt is to basically explain why I want to transfer and my idea is to establish my homelessness as an adventure, state that I’ve explored my current environment to the max, and then connect it to my desire to attend a university far away to basically continue said adventure in the pursuit of knowledge. </p>

<p>Your premise is interesting and engaging, and it seems that you have an idea of how to connect it to your desire to attend a new college. I say go for it. Most of your legwork on this essay will be making it as engaging and up-front as you did here, but only in the way appropriate for an admissions essay.</p>
