I am a little disappointed in myself for not applying to UC schools this year. I never expected I would get all my spring courses because my CC is not very reliable and didnt want to waste the $140. The day after the UC deadline I found out that I infact could get all the required courses and now regret not applying earlier. In the event that I do not get into the petroleum engineering at Texas A&M. Is it possible for me to take a gap year, apply for UCLA (since they dont allow spring admission) in November again, then transfer Fall 2015? Will their admissions frown upon me missing two semesters of school?
In the event I do not get into Texas A&M I want to just travel and try programming. I know it was very foolish not to apply considering I have a 4.0gpa, 60+units from my first year, and hands on experience with auto mechanics. It would have been a guaranteed admission and I am ****ed they do not allow spring admissions. Is there anything else I could do?

So are you saying that if you don’t get into the Petro program you want to switch to programming (aka CS) or you are just wanting to do that during the gap?

Have you thought about seeking internship experience in the gap to increase your industry knowledge?

I want to stick to Petroleum engineering and mechanical engineering at UCLA would be my last option. I was saying that I would pursue CS on my own time during the gap year. I have not considered seeking an internship but will look into it as long as its payed.
