Transfer Student Needs Help for Choosing Schools, Please?

I am currently a sophomore CC student looking to transfer for materials engineering/industrial engineering and here are the credentials that I will put on my Common App:

a. Resume

 2. Board of Directors at local Foundation since Fall 2013.
 3. Approximately 150 hours of community service - with an award given for it - since Spring 2014.
 4. Research assistant at UC Berkeley’s SinBeRISE Program since Fall 2014. Expecting to publish a paper by Spring 2015 yay!
 5. Tutoring for socioeconomically disadvantaged students for 9 hours weekly since Fall 2014.
 6. Was ranked 4th nationwide and 2nd statewide on PBL’s competition on summer 2014.

 10. Secretary general of an academic conference regarding sutainability in London (2013)

b. GPA
My current GPA is 3.95 with a B in English for my first semester, but I made it up with an A in a higher-level English in the following semester :). Additionally, I finished 70 semester units (yes, i did send over-credit petitions in every semester) from Fall 2013 to Fall 2014 (3 semesters) of mostly rigorous science classes but i still have several breadths.

c. Standardized Tests

 1. SAT: 2200
 2. SAT Subject: 800 on Math Level 2 and 790 on Physics
 3. TOEFL: 112 out of 120

d. Other considerations

 1. I look for schools with awesome networking and open job opportunities!
 2. Tuition fees between privates and publics are indifferent for me, since I am international.
 3. I am a very adventurous person! I am certainly not avoiding either hot or cold areas.
 4. Let’s just say that my personal statement and my recommendation letter are above average, but not stellar.
 5. I am currently considering MIT, Columbia, CMU, Northwestern, UCB, USC, UM-Ann Arbor, and Harvey Mudd! For safety schools, I am looking at GeorgiaTech and UIUC.

Grazie, amigos! Have a great turkey weekend! :)

What are your parents saying about how much they’ll pay each year??

What state are you in now? Calif?

@mom2collegekids‌ my parents declined to disclose that information to me, saying that I should focus on education and let them focus on the money… All the more reason for me not to let them down!

Yes! I have been in California since Fall of 2013 and it has been awesome for me, but I definitely would not mind moving anywhere :)

Will you apply as an international, then?
You must check with your parents whether they have the money. It’s pretty cut and dry; no point in wasting hundreds of dollars applying to colleges you won’t be able to pay for. For reference, the UCs are 55K a year, CSUs are about 32-35 depending on school, and most privates can cost up to 65K a year. As an international transfer, you’re not eligible for financial aid.
You should apply to a few UC’s if your parents have the money, and Cal Poly/CPP if they don’t. This is the most straightforward path for you and you need safeties. Georgia Tech and UIUC are not safeties, by the way.
Everything else is additional - your list makes sense. You may want to add Virginia Tech and either Olin or RPI.
