Transfer Student - What Classes Do I Take?

I am currently enrolled in a community college with plans on transferring to a state university once I obtain my associates. The only thing that’s confusing me is my class selection for future semesters at my current school. New Jersey has a website for transfer students where they can see what classes to take in their current school (in which my academic counselor suggested I go off of when making class selections), so that they meet the requirements of the school where you plan on transferring to. The thing is, many of these classes do not overlap in terms of what I need to take to get my associates at my current school and what the school I’m transferring to wants in terms of classes from a transfer student. So, if I go by this website, I would have to take another year of classes after my associates to meet all the classes that this site is saying is required.

Now, the last part is where I think I’m wrong. Do I have to knock all those classes off that list or can I obtain my associates from my current school, transfer, and do those classes at the school I’m transferring to?

Go have a meeting with the Transfer Advisor at your CC. That person is expert at helping students sort out their schedules o that they can transfer into the university where they want to finish up their degrees.

You don’t absolutely need to obtain an associates.
