I like to transfer from a community college as a Computer Science Major. My current GPA is a 3.72, but will will most likely increase to a 3.8 or higher. I, however, am more interested in philosophy, and would like to pursue a doctorate degree in it. However, to get accepted to a doctorate program your academic pedigree is important. So the main topic for me is where (in the top Universities) can I transfer? And I also must be able to do a double major in philosophy.

Could I transfer to a University that doesn’t have a highly ranked computer science program, but a highly (or extremely highly) ranked philosophy program, and would they allow me to double major in their philosophy program?

The Universities I am thinking of are

University of Notre Dame
University of Michigan
NYU
University of Texas (UT Austin)
University of California San Diego
University of Rutgers
University of North Carolina–chapel Hill
University of California
University of Wisconsin–Madison

I currently don’t have any community volunteer work, is this a big factor? what are big factors in admissions? My academic goal is to get a masters in computer science and a phd in philosophy
