So I had low SAT scores throughout the admissions process and knowing this I decided not to apply to Ivy league schools or any ranked above 20 except emory. Now I want to attend the university I got into and then hopefully try to transfer to a better school. I am going to try to increase my sat scores during the summer so I can be a bit more of a competitor going into the transfer applicant pool. I know that Princeton does not do any transfer students but are there other components that I should be aware of? I also read that if the school is 100% need met such as Yale, Harvard, UNC, or Brown they would give a full scholarship if you need it even if you transfer. Does this mean that even transfer students can get full scholarships. Any tips on this matter?
You will need to retake the SAT for the Ivies. You still need a high score. There’s no difference.
Do I still need subject Tests?
You need to check each school’s transfer admission web site for details.
Note that if you transfer at the sophomore level, your high school record and test scores will be much more important than if you transfer at the junior level (since junior level transfers will have more of a college record to show).
Why not enter college with the presumption that you will be spending four years at that school? “Up there” schools have brutally low acceptance rates for transfers - usually lower than for freshmen - and most of the acceptances go to students who have unusual or compelling circumstances. Higher SAT scores from a college freshman are not especially impressive; they’re expected. You will be better served by seizing available opportunities at your own college instead of chasing an implausible alternative.
Good point @woogzmama. Based on the low transfer admission rates the OP had better like his first school a great deal.
