Transfer to BC for fall '10. What are my chances?

I currently go to Lafayette College, it’s a small liberal arts school in Easton, Pa.
I realize that I really belong in bigger city environment with more people.
I fence on the div. 1 fencing team here, but I want to transfer to BC because their team is much more competitive than mine. I’m doing premed so I have a tight schedule.
Here are my stats thus far in the year:
GEN CHEM:B+
GEN BIO:B+
CALC 1:A
Technology & Society:B+
EC’s: I’m an A rated fencer. A-strip fencer here.

I realize that my gpa at this point is probably lower than the norm. I’m aiming for a 3.5 by the end of the semester. I also realize that I only have fencing for EC’s. Should I get more involved? Thanks.

Can you share us your HS stats?
BC competitive transfer applicants usually have around a 3.65.
Try aiming for a 3.75.
State your reasons for transferring to BC other than environment and student size: What about the classes and ECs on campus you are willing to commit: Why do you want to do undergraduate studies at BC?

HS stats: 3.3 gpa, only took 3 aps (calc, environmental science, and french), 26 on ACT’s.
EC’s: A strip varisty fencing team for four years, active volunteer at local hospital, yearbook photographer.

A sophomore year transfer is possible for you. Your HS GPA seems mediocre (+) even with those AP courses. Your ECs may not have been quantitative, but it’s still really good.
What I would advice you to do is call up the school and see if you’re a “match” candidate for their pool. Try getting As in your classes and get the GPA up to about 3.75. Then I would say you’re in a good shot. Your transfer essay should include why you want to attend the school instead of mentioning their “competitiveness.” What do you dislike about a small environment with small number of people? What can you do to get involved in the campus at BC?
