Transfer to Berkeley EECS or LA CSE

I’m currently a senior in high school considering attending a community college and then transferring to Berkeley or LA. I have ~42 UCB credits from AP tests + community college classes already, and only have about 7 classes left to complete all my prerequisites.
This is my current plan:
Summer 2015: English R1B & Linear Algebra
Fall 2015: Physics 7B(Electromagnetism), Diff Eq., CS61B, EE40
Spring 2016: Physics 7C, CS61C + 1 or 2 humanities courses

I was wondering how the process of transferring would be different if I had to apply during my first year in college and had a few general questions.

  1. Would they look at community college classes I took during high school to calculate my GPA? (I had gotten a B and I wouldn't want that to be counted)
  2. How would they calculate my GPA if I haven't received any grades at the time of applying?
  3. Would it be okay to talk about High School Extracurriculars and accomplishments in the Personal Statement?
  4. What kinds of Extracurriculars/honors/awards/opportunities are available to community college students? (besides just the regular school clubs)

Overall, I just want to make sure I have all the information and process correct and am not missing anything.

Thanks!

  1. Any community college classes you have already taken would be included in your GPA.
  2. The would calculate your GPA using all the community college classes you have taken up to Fall 2015's grades.
  3. You can talk about it, but it's far better to talk about something you did during community college. If it's something you started in high school, but still continue to do it while at community college, then it's fine.
  4. For EECS, you're going to want an internship at a tech company. It's tough to transfer into.
