Transfer to Dyson AEM or Remain at Union College

I was just accepted to Dyson as a sophomore. The dilemma is I am happy and doing well at Union. Further it will be tough leave my girl friend and the friends behind if I head to Ithaca in the fall.

Is Dyson/Cornell worth the potential sacrifice relative to Union? If there are any current/past Dyson folks out there and/or transfers, how was your experience?

I realize this is a personal decision, but interested in other relevant experiences.

Don’t make college decisions based on your girlfriend and friends. There’s no guarantee they will stay where you are, and true friends will remain true friends. Make the decision based upon what is best for YOU.

S1 was a transfer to AEM and just graduated last week. He would say it was the best decision/opportunity he could have had. He had amazing internships and will start working at a top Investment Bank in NYC in a few weeks. Union is a very good school, but Cornell/Dyson is an amazing school. Good luck with your decision

Cornell has a large transfer population relative to other schools. They do a good job of integrating transfers. My daughter knew few high school friends who transferred sophomore year, and they are all doing well.

Cornell will give you more options than a school like Union. I agree with Renomamma, don’t make your decision based on where your girlfriend is. If you are meant to be, you will continue to see each other even when you are not at Union. This is a great opportunity, don’t throw it away.

Does Union have an undergraduate business major? Is it AACSB accredited?

If you want to study business, I think Cornell is the best choice. Think of the long term. You would only be about 31/2 hours away from your gf for three years. You can see each other on weekends, breaks and summers. You will also make new friends at Cornell.

Although Union is a very good school, it does not have the same name recognition as Cornell. Again, think long term. That is my opinion.

Oldfort, sorry Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter on not on that list.

The list was for AEM, not for CAS (CS) or COE. I am not surprised Microsoft, FB and Twitter were not on the list for AEM.
