Supposing I wanted to study economics at any of the universities below, then transfer to a reputable college to complete my studies, which one would be best to start my first two years at? Assume that my college GPA will be high, as will my connections and extracurriculars. I’m not asking if I will get in to any college. I’m only asking which one will be best to start my first 2 years at.

Ohio State
Montana State
UC Merced
SJSU
SFSU
UC Irvine
UC Riverside
UCSB
UCSC

I can only speak from experience in California but if you want to do 2 years then go to a reputable university, your best bet is to do from CCC -> UC/CSU. Community college students get first priority over everyone. UC to UC or CSU to UC is difficult and have lower priority. It would be smart to go CCC -> UC Berkeley/UCLA/UCSD which are all great econ programs.

If you are doing UC or CSU to an out of state school, I think you will be low priority as well depending on the state.
