Hey guys!
I’m asking this for a friend. If a D is received in Fall 2011, and she is applying to UCs, will she be rejected from all UCs? She has a 3.38 with the D included. Please help. Thank you.

No she will not be rejected from all UCs. They still look at ur gpa and 3.3 is not bad consider for ucr, ucm, uci, or maybe ucd depend on ur major.
A “D” of course will hurt ur friend chance, but it doesn’t mean an automatically reject.

As long as you make up the D next quarter, it shouldn’t be a problem. Tell your friend to re-take.

Is the retake mandatory though? I mean her GPA looks good…even with the D.

@^ I’m assume ur friend is lazy. This will get her no where.
back to topic, if it was me, i would retake it because i can’t stand a D on my transcript assume im apply for ucla and UCB. If ur friend apply only to low tier UCs then a D will be fine, but keep it in mind, some major require a minimum gpa of 3._ for prereq.
btw is that class ia prereq ? if yes please retake. if not plus apply only to low tier uc, then no, u dont need to.

Yeah you’re right. She should retake. Thank god I’m not in that situation lol. I’d ■■■ bricks. But I have a friend with a D grade that got into UCSB and UCSD…so idk about the only apply to low tier schools. It’s possible bc they won’t be looking at individual grades (except Berk and la)

depend if the class is prereq or not. If i got a D in PE, do u think i would retake it? nahh lol

LMAO sorry I didn’t answer your other question. Nope not a prerequisite for anything. She didn’t even need it that’s y

well, if she cares about her gpa then retake or else no.

Ferrari, you go to PCC? HOLY GOODNESS so do I. I go to both GCC and PCC haha

wait though, whats your friends major. there are much more to acceptances than GPA.

Her major is Poli Sci! We have the same stats…which is weird because people on here might think I’m speaking for myself and not a friend lol.

I always thought if you got a D or F you had to retake?

I thought so too…because a D isn’t passing. I know someone who got in somewhere with a D. So I’m a bit confused

You can transfer if its not a pre req or required for your major with a D. If that doesn’t apply you don’t have to retake it. But you should. You never know if you want to apply to grad or professional school and that D will bring down your g.p.a. a lot.

ucr,ucsc,ucsb,ucm without question

uci probably yes, ucd 75-80%, ucsd - 60-70%, ucla - no, ucb - mmmm saying a no as well, unless she finishes strong and finishes IGETC & Pre Reqs…

Yeah I highly doubt Berk and LA
