I just finished my first semester at a California CC and am planning on staying at this CC for 3 years in total before I decide to transfer to UCB. Does the fact that I plan on staying here for another 3 years affect my chances?

And, as ashamed as I am in admitting this, I have 3 Ws right out of my first semester. I’m at a 4.0 GPA at the moment and planned to keep it that way. I’m really worried that these W’s will make it less likely for me to transfer. To you forum enthusiast out there, I’d like to know what your opinion is of my chances on transferring and getting accepted.

UCs don’t care about how much time you spend at community college.

W’s generally don’t matter, it seems, unless there are dozens of them or something. Plenty of people get accepted with a few W’s or so on their records.

Agree with @Cayton. The biggest problem with Ws, and it’s not necessarily a problem, it just needs to be addressed more carefully - is when they’re scattered all over the place, rather than congregated in a group or two. Three at the start snould have no effect. There are folks here with way more. Just let them know a basic reason.

Agree with everyone that Ws wont hurt you and to beef up your ECs. Also, befriend your writing professors so that when it comes time to write your essays they’ll eagerly work with you.
Finally, ENJOY this time. It’s going to be a series of highs and lows and you’ll stress out about the littlest things and that’s perfectly normal, I’d be more concerned if you didn’t, but be sure to have some fun in process. It’s going to go by a lot faster than you think.
