Transfer to UCLA

Hello all, I am currently living in New-jersey, and going to a small cc called Brookdale. My grades are ok (3.7) currently I am a communications major, but would be willing to switch(TAG). Im the treasurer on the student government. I volunteer with First Aid Squad in my town, and are in charge of the cadets on calls. I am on the fiancee committee and run small groups for Model UN. I work as a trainer in my town, and have been a trainer since I was 16 years old. Can play guitar like no other, and row on my free time with a few friends. I am a really hard worker and aggressive when i need to be. what are my chances if i have any at all. Also how does residency work there for school, because i have a a lot of family that lives in california could i lie and say i have been living with them in the summers and off time ect… thanks!

Residency is much harder to prove than what you’re implying you are trying to do.

UCLA does not have TAG, and your grades are a little lower than average, making UCLA a low reach.

Very hard to fudge residency in CA for the university system. Saying you were here in the summers won’t cut it and the fact you were enrolled in a NJ school (and you will be submitting those records) proves you weren’t here. So that won’t fly.

UCLA is VERY competitive for regular admission and transfers. Here is transfer profile for this past fall:

You need at least a 3.90 to competitive for the communications major. Even if you had residency at California, your shot for UCLA is pretty much zero.

Consider a different major, you will not get into Comm with anything lower than a 3.90

I think you can still try applying, and look into TAP instead of TAG if that’s available for your major.

don’t you guys believe in miracles?!

3.89 is the average…meaning people get admitted below that GPA… my GPA was below the average and I was admitted…however, I was a CC transfer…but yeah, you never know!
