Hello,
I was formerly a student at a private university but I had a change of heart and decided to transfer to UCSB. I am currently at a community college and underway in completing my general eds and pre reqs to transfer out. My question is that should I just transfer out w/o using the TAG Agreement since I feel confident that my application was well executed and I don’t want to wait that long or should I play it safe and use the TAG agreement.
In regards to my stats I’m a prospective financial mathematics major, I was involved in a few clubs, my transfer gpa is about a 3.6, and my essays are pretty good; the first one is about how spending time in my former university’s micro finance club gave me a global perspective on how half of the world lacks access to financial services which to some degree stagnates their opportunities for financial growth. This experience was meaningful since it got me interested in the subject and influenced my desire to work for a micro finance institution so that I can be involved in helping impoverished people get access to financial services so that they might work their way out of poverty/obtain a better quality of life. My second essay was when I made the decision to transfer out of my former university for a number of reasons: personal dissatisfaction with the school, tuition was expensive (my family sacrificed a lot to send me there), and I felt guilty since the cost of my private school tuition (at the time) had made it harder for my younger brother to go to college (but that’s not a problem anymore b/c I transferred to a cc). It was meaningful because it helped me become a more humble and considerate human being since I made the mature decision to hang up my pride and transfer out, and to become more mindful of the sacrifices others were making.
