Transfer to USC or Fordham?

Hi all! I desperately need some feedback. Miraculously, I was accepted to a variety of schools as a transfer, and have narrowed my decision to my top two: the University of Southern California, and Fordham University. Both wildly different schools on two different coasts, and that is the hard part.

USC has everything I want: it’s a large school so plenty of abilities to network and build a social network, it has the perfect program for me (Policy, Planning & Development major at Price) and my future goals, and of course all the wonders and resources of Los Angeles. Even the downside (I was accepted for spring 2016, not fall 2015) has its perks: I can work and save up money, maybe take a couple more gen eds, etc.

Fordham… well, Fordham sort of has the program I want but I’m not guaranteed to get in until I meet the prerequisites (social work). I’d be living on campus, and yet only 30-45 minutes away from home (I live in North NJ), so it’s nice to have that safety blanket.

My gut says USC, but I just wanted to hear others’ perspectives on the schools, their own experiences navigating a similar situation (i.e., a school they wanted vs. a school in close proximity to home), etc! Thanks so much.

Go to USC! I applied under PPD as my first major but got in for my alternate major. Although I am grateful, I would be ten times happier had I been admitted for PPD. That program is LIFE! It is mandatory for the students to go to Washington DC for an entire semester and take 16 units, I believe, that go towards their degree. Their is a mandatory internship that must be completed (minimum 140 hours) and their are jobs held specifically for the Price undergrads. Plus, you’re surrounded by Los Angeles! PPD is perfect in that location! C’mon!

do you have plans for housing at USC? Theres no guarantee housing for spring admission students. Thats the only thing I’m worried about.
