Transfer with honor code pending

I’m hoping to transfer this fall or spring but I have a pending honor code against me. It won’t be on my transcript but I am not on good academic standing with my college (small liberal arts school). If I have a 3.6 GPA and 40 credits not including the class that’s being investigated for the honor code process, is it possible to get into schools like University of Georgia or Clemson?

Your issue isn’t with getting in- your problem is what happens when they find out you obfuscated your status when you applied. They may or may not rescind your acceptance- then what?

I am planning on explaining in the additional info section my situation. But do they accept students at all with these backgrounds?

You really need to ask the school not the internet. This is very specific to you and not a general question that would apply to other’s,per se. Have a conversations with admissions. You learned your lesson and move on. Seems like you’re a good student.

What are your other options?

Without more specifics, responders can only guess.

U Georgia & Clemson are very popular schools so my best guess is that you should look to schools with easier admissions.

What do you plan to study ?

Many colleges need students so I suspect that an honors code infraction would not be a barrier to entry unless there were unusually aggravating circumstances.

For major universities, consider schools with admission rates above 65%.

Answer application questions in an honest manner. Be succinct & direct.

Do these schools ask about disciplinary history on their transfer apps?

When will your case at your current school be resolved? Depending on the resolution and/or process for getting back to good academic standing, you might not have to transfer, correct?

I believe UGA transfer application asks about dishonesty and honor code infractions, and my guess is that Clemson does too. With a 3.6 and 30 hours completed you meet the minimum academic qualifications to be considered for transfer at UGA. You say this is excluding the class for which you’re being investigated for an honor code violation. That class will also be included in your GPA. The minimum GPA to apply for transfer is a 3.3 so if you drop below that you will be automatically denied.

If you answer yes to the question about dishonesty and you will need to, you will have to explain. The likelihood of acceptance would drop exponentially and is highly unlikely since UGA also has an Honor Code you commit to follow when applying, but may not be zero depending on the circumstances.

Decisions for fall transfer to UGA have already gone out so you have missed the deadline to start this fall.
