I’m worried about a similar thing. I got a 2260 on the SAT and had a 96 average in high school but I did really badly on the APs in senior year, failing french and calculus. I’m at a competitive college now and I hope to transfer to Dartmouth at the end of my freshman year so is there anything I can do to improve my chances and minimize the impact the impact of my poor AP scores?

I finally realized I want to study engineering but I want to keep a similar atmosphere with small classes as that is what drew me to Williams. I’m signed up for my fall classes but if I take calc second semester, can I send Dartmouth information on my grades?

You don’t have to self-report the score of every AP exam you’ve ever taken. Simply don’t bother to submit the French and Calculus scores. As for maximizing your chances, get as high a college GPA as you can by the time you apply. Your college GPA (at the time you’re applying) is VERY important in transfer admissions, and you should expect that Dartmouth will ask to see your transcript from Williams.

Also think about why you’re applying to transfer in the first place. Why not apply for one of the 3-2 programs in Engineering (including Dartmouth’s)? I took an engineering class this past summer, and I was surprised at how many 3-2 students there were!
