my D is admitted to Cornell and wants to change the major she has applied to. We want to factor in how easy or difficult it is to transfer from one school to another within Cornell before committing.
It depends which schools/major. Historically it was pretty straight forward but Dyson is very difficult to transfer into now.
May not be easy, read through below especially the requirement section first.
The process for switching to another may not be SUPER tough. I spoke to a couple current students at Cornell and most of them told me that you would need to write another essay about transferring and make sure to complete the requirements for transferring into the major.
Hot major like Comp Science is tough. Transfer from non-engineering to engineering is tough.
Depends …what school/major is the possible transfer to? What school/major has the student been accepted into?
public policy Brooks school to economics in Arts and science
I would encourage your student to reach out to CAS and ask the question directly. Brooks is a new college at Cornell so there isn’t a lot of information out there about internal transfers. I’d especially want to know the ease of getting into the pre-req classes required for Econ from outside CAS.
