so im going to go the ccc route and aim for a 4.0 and then transfer to uc berk…do you know what specific classes I have to take specifically for a chem or English major??? Besides my grades what should I look for in volunteer work and extras?

Go to assist.org. Plug in your CC, UCB, and your major. That’ll give you the list of required classes, and your CC’s articulations for them. For English (and possibly Chem) you’ll probably have to follow IGETC (clears GE requirements), check your CCC’s website for information on those classes.

You’ll also need to meet the usual UC transfer requirements… 60 transferable (semester) units, english classes, etc.

Keep in mind that a 4.0 isn’t always doable… especially if you’re taking STEM classes. That said, a 4.0 isn’t required to get into UCB as a transfer.
But admissions are never completely predictable here, so you should also have a backup school in mind… another UC maybe, just as a safety.

EC: Go for things you actually care about. Have something you can write about, and be passionate about, for your essays. And of course, anything related to your major looks good too.
