Transfer

What are some good business school for ugrad that are relatively easy to get into for transfer compared to first year admission. I want to transfer and i have a 3.18.

Hard to say–you would have to look at the schools you are interested in and compare their admissions statistics to their transfer statistics. Also, if you had poor grades in high school or a low SAT, you want to look for schools that don’t require you to submit these.

Generally, the easiest school to get into will be your in-state university.
So, if you live in California, the answer will be one of the UCs or Cal States. In NC, it would be Univ of North Carolina or North Carolina State, etc. The state universities are generally required to admit a certain number from the local community colleges.

Good luck.

it’s ridiculously easy to transfer into indiana. the acceptance rate last year was 68%.

I am not in a community college now I am at Bentley College and I have a 3.02. In high school I was in the top 30 percent of my class with a 3.3uw and 3.7w and i had a 1250 on my sats and 600 average on sat2s

If i get my gpa to a 3.4ish this year you think I have a chance at some good schools?

is 68% their transfer rate? I was thinking of applying there for spring, will have a 3.5 but with 2 F’s retaken for A’s and 11 W’s and a total of close to 60 transferable units. If indiana doesnt take me, it will be up for asu (great school for op) csfu, csulb, cal poly slo, iowa, binghampton or other various colleges i widdle down once i figure which ones i have the best chances at.

For op, Iowa is a great easy to get in school, some with asu for some programs, especially business and Wis Madison. Your a shoe in for all of those except madison, but if you apply econ and apply for business school after a semester or two and do well, you will be fine

southpasadena, for ops you might want to consider Purdue–they are like 3rd in the country for that major.

hellokidcollege–yes, if you get your GPA up to 3.4 your odds go up significantly for transfer from the current 3.02. Schools like Indiana, Purdue, Pitt are givens then, and schools like Michigan, BU, and Maryland are then possibilities.

Maryland is a crap shot and risky since one in you can only apply to the business school once in which there are two you can apply to, but in reality only one people really wanna go to. When i said op, i meant original poster, i am actually more interested in accounting and finance, accounting mainly for undergrad job prospects and finance for grad. And purdue is to expensive for my wallet. I know i could get into asu, indiana i have no clue, but i am leaning and i think everyone shoudl really consider their state college. 3k per year for fullerton or any other cal state compared to 14k for asu and 18k indiana.

umm since you’re from california why not UCSB? accounting concentration, big four firms recruit there, good academics, great social life.

Had now clue they had an accounting concentration. UCR has the crappiest career center so i am staying away from there, UCI i could get in , but that also means i have to take a 2 semester of calc which i was just going to take business calc in fall instead of the year sequence. I am still deciding but i am gonna check that out. But fullerton could get me a great big 4 job in orange county or downtown la for pwc, same with long beach, slo would get a great job in silicon valley san fran (same with san jose state), asu isnt that great in getting the big firms to hire (weird since they have a top act program), but they have a myriad of other possibilities with over 500 recruiters which is huge compared to cal states

HOBO, thank you very much, i was looking at the articulation agreements and i dont even have to take the yr long calc sequence, biz calc is ok, hahah, thanks a lot. That is for biz economics. I really like their campus compared to fullerton and long beach. I really could say i love you. I will have an agreement too since my gpa is high enough, just need to finish fall and i am done. Need to really make an apointment with the counselor then. I LOVE YOU HOBO, im not gay or anything, but thanks a lot for bringing that to my attention.

haha, no problem bud. 3.5 should be guranteed into ucsb. To be honest, i’d be there right now if my parents didn’t think it was too much of a party school.

And if ur still htinking about going to UCR, you shouldn’t. I attend right now and i the career center does suck. I went to the career fair to look for internships and i did not see any big four firms. The biggest firms i saw recruiting were citigroup and capital group, they mostly wanted personal bankers and sales type of positions.

UCSB, like UCLA has no undergraduate business degree. But both schools offer a Business Economics degree and both schools offer a minor in Accounting. This is what hobofromdowntown is referring to.

oh boy, my gf goes to ucr, i am there half of the week, otherwise i am at mtsac or at my job in brea. I have seen postings about meet the firm nights, but even with that, i have heard horror stories from everybody about the career center, but i have also heard about possible improvements in the near future. For their status in the region, they really should be getting better companies for recruitment. Capital group is a great company, but the real jobs dont come until they are recruiting from grad schools in which they have a VERY specific list of schools they will and only will recruit from. Pulte homes recruits which isnt to bad, but your screwed unless your in engineering in which they still lag behind poly pomona and long beach.

UCSB seems to be top choice now, only problem is the TAA is only for fall and not for winter, maybe i can still get in without waiting another year making my graduation 5 years instead of 4, but giving me more time for my prospective website/business.

Sorry for stealing thread away from op

Give more information on what school your looking for, what environment, geographic locations you like etc and i am sure posters will gladly point you in the right direction

As a sideline, UC Merced, which just opened last year, is opening their business school starting this Fall. Obviously nobody knows how good or bad it will be, but it is only the 3rd school in the UC system to offer an official undergraduate business major (UC Berkeley, UC Riverside, UC Merced)–UCSC claims to have one, but you can only major in Info Technology. And I already commented above on the programs at UCLA and UCSB.

lol thanks for stealing my thread… haha jk I really want to go to Mcgill. What do you think? First Semester at Bentley I took 17 credits and had a 3.2 second semester 16 credits had a 2.7 and in the summer at community college i’m taking 12 credits and expect a 4.0.

I would rather try to Toronto or Western Ontario. You would still have another year at bentley if you applied to toronto, west onatrio i dont know, but toronto only takes apps for fall since their programs a year long, not semester or quarter

I know Toronto and West Ontario are better but I like McGill so i Defintley want to apply there.
